Are you out of date with your health? Some people are being fooled.
What you believe about ageing probably needs revision.
You probably know some of the truth now. I’m serious about the importance of our paying attention to who we are and what we are.
You might not view getting older the same way your parents did. Have you considered starting a remodeling process for your health?
We are in the process of debunking many out-of-date beliefs about ageing.
For example, additional years no longer always bring about additional physical problems.
Your age is only a number. That number doesn’t say a thing about your overall health and well-being.
Don’t tell yourself things like: “Oh, I’m getting too old to do X.” These words are just toxic forms of self-hypnosis.
If you think you’re developing ageing problems, you are.
If you think you’re capable of youthing, you are!
Charlie Schmidt, in National Geographic (October 20, 2005), asked how long humans can conceivably live.
In most developed countries, life expectancy has grown steadily to an average of 75 years.
However, scientists are exploring ways to extend lifespan to lengths that seem inconceivable now – perhaps 120 years and beyond.
Future centenarians who avail themselves of life-prolonging methods will not get stuck in the familiar frailties of old age.
Rather than accepting years of decline, your goal can be to retain your youthful vitality,
Many health professionals are starting to believe
that no one really dies of “old age.”
The concept of old age is dying!
As examples, heart disease and cancer can strike at any age. The diseases are related to stress and lack of self-care.
They cannot be said to be “caused” by aging. Disease is no longer equated with aging.
Simple Things to Do
When a person gets involved with remaining fit, the patterns associated with aging are minimized and are sometimes even nonexistent.
Fitness is more than just doing exercise,
it is also a state of mind.
The Mayo Clinic, a bastion of traditional medicine, says that even “if you’re sure you’ve already done too much damage to yourself to hope for a long life, think again. Researchers say it’s never too late to adopt a healthy lifestyle.”
Harvard psychologist Dr. Ellen Langer showed in a 2008 study that so-called signs of aging can be reversed by increasing activity and shifting one’s attitudes. Attitude is crucial.
A positive attitude, particularly when that attitude is fueled by the emotional feelings of happiness, is a powerhouse.
Can you create a new idea about aging that includes your ability to feel younger? If so, what would be a short statement that expresses your new feelings about youthing? For example:
“Every day, in every way, I’m feeling
younger, healthier and happier.”
Create your statement and write it down. Say it to yourself many times a day, including upon waking and as you fall asleep. The more you feel the truth of your statement, the more it becomes successfully embedded into your subconscious.
As you know, your subconscious mind is a driving force in your life. So, make sure you feed your subconscious with nutritious beliefs and thoughts and feelings.
Research has uncovered the keys to longevity in some of the healthiest, most long-lived groups in the world. Are you open to taking a serious look at what is working for them?
What the long-living groups in this study have in common is:
- They don’t smoke
- Relationships are important to them
- They are physically active every day
- They stay socially engaged
- Fresh fruits, fresh vegetables, and whole grains make up most of their diet.
Take these simple steps, and you’ll dramatically increase your probability of living a long and healthy life. Lifelong fitness and health are not accidents. Your personal genetics help; however, lifestyle choices are far more important, and they are entirely under your control.
Research shows that a positive marriage, cohabitating with a partner, getting together with friends, and even volunteering to assist others all help maintain the health of your brain. Positivity and love are powerful.
Carole Lieberman, M.D., M.Ph. , is a member of the clinical faculty at UCLA’s Neuropsychiatric Institute. She says, “We’re all born with a primal need for affection – to be embraced, accepted and cooed over. Having someone who loves you cuts down tremendously on stress, because it provides security and courage to face problems. Your self-confidence rises because you know your partner has your back.”
You can say hello to a life of youthing, a life that keeps improving, expanding, and unfolding with new accomplishments and new surprises.
In addition to the powerful ability of your attitudes and your state of mind to energize your physical body, scientific research has pinpointed ways you can enhance your body’s ability to rejuvenate.
Dr. Joseph Chang, a pioneer of life-extension technology, states, “Science and the understanding of genetics are giving you a great opportunity. We are the first generation of humans that can actually influence our own aging.”
Now, you can let go of social pressure to do things that can make you sick with the passage of time. Rather, imagine yourself waking up one bright morning and appreciating being a hundred and twenty. You’re strong and healthy, and you sense a Spiritual Love within you as you still do what you enjoy doing, all day, every day.
